Freedom From Temptation
Today’s Bible Reading: Luke 10:19
Memory Verse: Luke 10:19
‘Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.’
Commentary By Andrew Wommack
Although these are examples of God’s protection from harm caused by the physical creation, this scripture is also speaking of mastery over the spiritual realm of the enemy (i.e., Satan). This Scripture does not say that Satan cannot inflict any harm. The scriptures abound with examples, and warnings of the enemy’s damage on the godly and the ungodly alike (2 Cor. 2:11, 2 Tim. 2:26, 1 Pet. 5:8-9). However, he cannot harm us when we are walking in faith in Christ’s redemptive work.
There are no unique temptations. The devil likes to make us think there are. If he can convince us that no one understands, no one has ever had this problem before, then he can isolate us and take away our hope. But any temptation we face is just some variation of the same old thing. It may come in a different sized box, be wrapped in a different paper, and have a different bow, but the contents are the same. Understanding this diffuses much of the power of temptation.
Even though temptation is universal to mankind, we are not left on our own. God is faithful. Jesus was tempted in all points like as we are, and yet He overcame every time (Heb. 4:15). Part of His ministry is to specifically aid us in overcoming temptation (Heb. 2:17-18). Most of us have experienced times when we thought we couldn’t resist another minute. Either we were wrong, or we were on the verge of a breakthrough. The Lord promised that He would not allow us to be tempted above what we are able to bear. So, at those times when you can’t stand another minute, stand two and this promise will pull you through.
Thank God for providing a way out of every temptation that may come our way through the power of Christ Jesus. Again, we see how our Lord Jesus has set an example for us to follow. May I received grace not to give in to any temptation that may come my way but to overcome it in Jesus’ name!
We face trials in our daily lives. It can be very very very challenging to see the situation happening praying and not getting any results. We then feel like quitting prayers and askk God why our prayers are not being answered when his word says “we can ask any thing by his name” John 14v14; or ask and it shall be given Mattew 7v7 and yet no results. Its hard and very hard to believe in the word, pray and yet see no results. As soon as we feel like this we should be alert that the devil is around the corner. These thoughts are all from the devil. “Doubts start installing and we allow the devil to play up our minds. Even when its hurts, even when our prayers are not being answered we should remember that God sees all. And he will intervene and will do exceedingly, abundantly and above all. God is real, faithful and he is good. He will intervene sooner or later in every situation we might face in our lives. Lets not quite, lets stand firm and continue to pray and to believe, he will definitely show up. ❤ ?
A good reminder that we shouldn’t let Satan distract us with earthly problems and temptation.
Our identity is in Christ so just as He overcame so have we by faith!
‘Part of His ministry is to specifically aid us in overcoming temptation (Heb. 2:17-18).’
As we go through different situations in our brief lives; my prayer is that we will never lose our hope and faith!
Jesus is with us; He loves and cares for us and the Holy Spirit is our very present help in time of need!
